| The international airport is a place where modernity reaches a peak, the ultimate stage of our civilization, where its promises and its fears are concentrated. It combines several fantasies in their most concentrated and hysterical form : the fantasy of instantaneous circulation, of unlimited shopping, of unavoidable disaster, of absolute surveillance. "Terrorism Museum" proceeds to a psychoanalysis of the international airport. We offer to survey its subconscious, its imaginary world, its flaws, its viruses, its malfunctions and its losses : to scan its other side. | L'aéroport international est un lieu de condensation : point de plus forte concentration de la modernité, de ses promesses et de ses angoisses, stade ultime de notre civilisation. Plusieurs fantasmes s'y combinent sous leur forme la plus concentrée et la plus hystérique : fantasme de la circulation instantanée, fantasme de la consommation illimitée, fantasme de la catastrophe inéluctable, fantasme de la surveillance absolue. «Musée du terrorisme» procède à une psychanalyse de l'aéroport international. Nous proposons de sonder son imaginaire, son inconscient, ses failles, virus, dysfonctionnements et pertes : de scanner son envers. | |

| For a long time an epiphenomenon, gated communities – private residential enclaves protected by walls or gates and with entry restricted to residents or their guests – are flourishing worldwide. They are no longer an urban aberration or simple "ghettos for the rich" but the culmination of a perhaps inexorable evolution of the contemporary city where diversity and heterotopia are becoming the exception. The book sheds light on the conditions in which the phenomenon appears. In the uncertain environment of the megalopolis, where everything is excessive, without quality, and the inhabitant is a nomadic being, salvation appears in small homogeneous communities, where the reminiscence of the village competes with the model of the theme park. Longtemps un épiphénomène, les gated communities – enclaves résidentielles privées protégées par des murs ou grilles et à l’entrée réservée aux seuls résidents ou leurs invités – prospèrent dans le monde entier. Elles ne relèvent plus d’une aberration urbaine ou de simples « ghettos pour riches » mais incarnent l’aboutissement d’une évolution, peut-être inexorable, de la ville contemporaine où la mixité et l’hétérotopie deviennent l’exception. L’ouvrage éclaire les conditions d’apparition du phénomène. Dans l’environnement incertain des mégapoles où tout est démesuré, sans qualité, et l’habitant un être nomade, le salut apparaît dans de petites communautés homogènes, où la réminiscence du village le dispute au modèle du parc à thèmes. | |
